HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s dance program is holding auditions Monday, May 16, for a Fanfare dance concert scheduled in October.
Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Dance Studio, room 153. Due to building construction, the only available entrance is on the left side of the building.
Dance professor Martie Fellom said the auditions are open to experienced dancers who are Southeastern students or juniors or seniors in high school.
“The dance production is a new version of ‘The Firebird,’ written by English faculty member Alan Marsh and directed by me,” Fellom said. “For the audition, students should wear dance attire and be prepared to dance barefoot. The audition will begin at 4 p.m. and last approximately two hours.”
Southeastern students can earn a one-hour credit for their rehearsal hours and performance in Dance 106 (freshmen and sophomores) or Dance 406 (juniors and seniors), Fellom said.
Student choreographers selected for the production are Giara Major and Diamond Williams of Baton Rouge, Ashli Tallo of Hammond, and Kaleigh Brandt of Slidell.
Sponsored by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the Oct. 27 concert will be held in Vonnie Borden Theatre.
