Southeastern, NTCC to offer Workforce Development Programs as part of U.S. Department of Labor Grant

     HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University, in partnership with Northshore Technical Community College, is offering a free workforce development program to assist area healthcare professionals by training personnel in Microsoft Office Word 2007.
     Scheduled at Northsore Technical Community College at 111 Pride Drive in Hammond for five Saturdays beginning Oct. 8 through Nov. 5, the program is being offered through a U.S. Department of Labor Grant by the university’s Southeast Louisiana Business Center. Each session will run from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., for a total of 25 hours of instruction.
     All employed healthcare professionals who can demonstrate proof of place of employment are eligible to participate. Participants will earn the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Word 2007 certification upon completion of the series.
     Through the program, participants can upgrade their current skills and learn new skills, such as creating and formatting documents, formatting text and paragraphs, merging documents and data sources, and using tables and lists to organize.
     “In today’s environment, employees need every advantage they can gain,” said William Joubert, director of the Southeast Louisiana Business Center. “This program is intended to aid healthcare workers gain and enhance their skills in document management.”
