HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University police have completed an investigation into the
suicide of a student from Nepal who was found in his campus residence Sunday night.
The 19-year-old student, whose name is being withheld while arrangements are being made with the family, is a second-semester freshman majoring in engineering technology. The student was in good academic standing.
The student was last seen at 7:30 p.m. and found by his roommate at 10:30 p.m., when the University Police Department was contacted. Louisiana State Police assisted in the investigation.
The university said immediate counseling services have been made available for students and residential assistants.
Students from Nepal constitute one of the largest international communities on the Southeastern campus with approximately 120 students.
