Southeastern, Franklinton Chamber to host social media marketing seminar

     HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University in cooperation with the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar entitled "Social Media Marketing Made Simple."

     The free event will be held Jan. 30 at the Franklinton Town Hall on 11th Street from 1 to 3 p.m.

     "Are you interested in learning how you can turn social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter into powerful business tools? In this introductory session, we cover strategies and best practices for businesses to get the most out of their social media activities," said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern Small Business Development Center. "We will discuss how social media outlets can interact together, ways to leverage their inherent strengths, and tools to evaluate the best use of them for your business or organization."

     Participants will learn the following:

  • what social media marketing really is and why to use it;introduction to social media channels and how to evaluate what's right for your business or organization;
  • how small businesses are using low-cost tools to gain visibility, develop relationships and drive sales and response;
  • how to create good content for social media marketing campaigns and time management;
  • how to balance social media marketing with email marketing and other marketing efforts.

     There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is preferred. Wi-Fi will be available during the class, so participants can bring a fully charged laptop, tablet or smartphone.
