     HAMMOND – One of the world's most highly respected and sought-after ensembles, Paul Taylor Dance, will perform at Southeastern Louisiana University's Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m.

     "Dance maker Paul Taylor first presented his choreography with five other dancers in Manhattan on May 30, 1954. The performance marked the beginning of a half-century of unrivaled creativity," said C. Roy Blackwood, interim director of the Columbia Theatre. "In the decades that followed, Taylor became a cultural icon and one of history's most celebrated artists, hailed as one of the creators of American modern dance."

     Since 1954, Paul Taylor has amassed a growing collection of 130 dances performed by his celebrated company of 16 dancers and the six-member company Taylor 2. Bringing modern dance to America's college campuses and small towns, as well as large cultural centers, Paul Taylor Dance has performed in more than 520 cities in 62 countries.
