HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's dance program will hold auditions Friday, June
7, for an upcoming dance concert to be directed by Crystal Schayot, a Southeastern
senior from New Orleans.
"This performance will consist of all styles of dance, ranging from ballet/pointe
to hip hop, musical theater, contemporary and more," Schayot said. "Anyone is welcome
to audition."
Sponsored by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the concert will be
held in the fall.
Auditions are scheduled from 12 to 2 p.m. in the dance studio located in the
Kinesiology and Health Studies Building. Schayot said students should wear something
that shows their form, especially on the upper body torso.
Schayot said the audition will consist of a variety of styles. While not required,
students auditioning may present a short phrase or solo, and students may choose to
perform their style of choice.
"Students should bring all their dance shoes needed, water, and energy," Schayot
added, "and be prepared to fill out an audition form with times of availability."
