HAMMOND – With the theme "From There to Here, From Here to There, Roomie Rhyming Everywhere," Southeastern Louisiana University's Homecoming parade will caravan from campus to West Church Street and back again Saturday.

The annual parade will roll from the Southeastern University Center on University Avenue at 3 p.m. It will travel south on North General Pershing, turn left onto West Dakota, and right onto North Pine, and then jog left to West Church Street.

At West Church Street, the parade will turn left and travel two blocks east before turning north. The parade will pass through the Holy Ghost Fall fair on North Oak Street as it heads back to campus where it will turn into Friendship Circle (McGehee Drive), and then go right on North General Pershing to return to the University Center.

Highlights of the parade will include Alumnus of the Year Hamilton Mixon, who will lead the parade as grand marshal. A 1979 graduate of Southeastern with degrees in criminal justice, psychology and sociology, Mixon most recently was responsible for global security and executive services for Facebook.

He will lead a caravan that will include the 14 members of the Homecoming queen and beau courts, Southeastern's Spirit of the Southland marching band, floats, and a variety of other decorated vehicles.

Southeastern's Homecoming week – sponsored by FeLions – is in full swing and will also include the annual the Homecoming bonfire on Thursday in the grassy area adjacent to the University Center and the Alumni Awards Evening Friday at 7 p.m. at Twelve Oaks.

With a full day of tailgating and family activities planned on Saturday, Homecoming will culminate when the Southeastern Lions football team takes on Southland Conference foe Lamar at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
