Southeastern LSBDC to host seminar for tax preparers, CPAs, and enrolled agents

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University will host the seminar "2013 Updates for Tax Preparers, CPAs and Enrolled Agents" on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Hammond.

Scheduled at Southeastern's University Center at 800 W. University Ave., room 133 from 9  to 11:30 a.m, the program will start at 8:30 a.m. with registration. Pre-registration and pre-payment are encouraged. Register online at www.southeastern.edu/sbdc and click on Eregister. The cost to attend is $20.

Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, said the seminar will be conducted by representatives of the Internal Revenue Service and Louisiana Department of Revenue, who will address recent updates affecting how tax preparers and practitioners do business.

"The seminar is designed to educate and update employers about their payroll reporting responsibilities," she explained. "Anyone involved in payroll, wage, or employer tax reporting is encouraged to attend."

Summers said topics of discussion will include electronic services, due diligence, wage reporting and more. Questions and comments are encouraged, she added.
