HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Business recognized its top students at the college's annual honors convocation May 1.

The college named Bruce Brumfield its 2014 Outstanding Alumnus. He received his bachelor's degree from Southeastern in 1984. Brumfield is president and CEO of Founders Federal Credit Union in South Carolina. Serving in various management positions, he has been with the credit union since 1998 and was named CEO in January 2003. Under his leadership, Founders Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in the state and considered one of the strongest in the nation. Originally from Bogalusa, Brumfield now lives in Lancaster, S.C.

Also at the convocation, the Northshore Chapter of Louisiana CPAs presented a check to increase the endowment of the accounting scholarship it endowed at Southeastern in 2011.  Each year the chapter has added to the endowment to maximize the amount available to a student recipient. The endowment has grown to $37,500.

The college recognized inductees of the 13 Club and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. Departmental awards were presented to:

BATON ROUGE– Anna Brost, Distinguished Graduate in Marketing;

DENHAM SPRINGS – Samantha Chavers, Distinguished Graduate in Management;

GRETNA - Nicole Navarre, Distinguished Graduate in Business Administration;

HAMMOND – Lidia Apostol, Distinguished Graduate in Accounting;

LULING – Keronida Myles, Distinguished Graduate in Finance;

MANDEVILLE – William Stoner of Mandeville, Distinguished Graduate in Economics;

PONCHATOULA – Sara Bardwell, Distinguished Graduate in Supply Chain Management;

SLIDELL– Branden Summers, Distinguished Graduate in Marketing.

3) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS STUDENT (EAST BATON ROUGE) – Anna Brost, right, of Baton Rouge was among the Southeastern Louisiana University students recognized at the College of Business's annual honors convocation May 1. Brost received the Distinguished Graduate in Marketing Award. With her is head of the Department of Accounting and Finance Rick Simpson.


4) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS STUDENT (JEFFERSON) – Nicole Navarre, right, from Gretna was among the Southeastern Louisiana University students recognized at the College of Business's annual honors convocation May 1. Navarre received the Outstanding Academic Award in Business Administration. Congratulating her is head of the Department Accounting and Finance Rick Simpson.


5) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS STUDENT (LIVINGSTON)
Samantha Chavers from Denham Springs was among the Southeastern Louisiana University students recognized at the College of Business's annual honors convocation May 1. Chavers received the Distinguished Graduate in Business Administration.


6) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS STUDENT (ST. TAMMANY)
Branden Summers, right, of Slidell was among the Southeastern Louisiana University students recognized at the College of Business's annual honors convocation May 1. Summers received the Distinguished Graduate in Marketing Award. Congratulating him is head of the Department of Accounting and Finance Rick Simpson.


7) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS HONORS STUDENTS (TANGIPAHOA) – Southeastern Louisiana University student Lidia Apostol, right, of Hammond was among those recognized at College of Business's annual honors convocation May 1. Apostol received the Distinguished Graduate in Accounting Award. With her is head of the Department of Accounting and Finance Rick Simpson.
