Southeastern Music presents Alexander Russakovsky

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts presents award-winning cellist Alexander Russakovsky in recital on Friday, Nov. 14 in the Pottle Annex Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is a part of the department's Guest Artist Series and is free and open to the public.

Russakovsky and accompanist Joohae Kim will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite No. 5, Gaspar Cassado's Suite for Solo Cello, and Franz Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, D.821.

Russakovsky is an award-winning cellist who has performed in Russia, Israel, Europe, and the United States. Currently a member of the music faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi, he is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Santa Barbara. A founding member of the Jerusalem Academy String Quartet, he has presented master classes in Taiwan, Israel, and Latin America and will be presenting one to members of the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra.

Kim is also a member of the music faculty at Southern Mississippi. A native of New Zealand, she recently completed her doctoral studies at Florida State University and has garnered prizes at such events as the Kerikeri International Piano Competition, Kapiti Coast National Piano Competition and Christchurch National Piano Concerto Competition.
