Southeastern offers master class with Rioult Dance NY

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University will host a free master class with Rioult Dance NY on campus Saturday, Nov. 8.

Scheduled from 9:30 – 11 a.m., the class will take place in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Building dance studio, room 153.

Dancers 12 years and older should report no later than 9:15 a.m. in dance attire. Michael Spencer Phillips, a senior member of Rioult Dancy NY will teach the class.

"Master Classes with Pascal Rioult, Joyce Herring or the company's dancers are designed to explore the thrill of movement and are geared for students of all levels. They engage the mind, the imagination, and the body making for an inspiring dance experience," said Martie Fellom, dance coordinator. "The class will begin with exercises on the floor then students steadily progress to standing exercises and movement phases that form the base of Pascal Rioult's renowned choreography and are the foundation to his dancers' extraordinary technique."

The master class is scheduled the day before Rioult Dance NY performs at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $25 - $39 and are available at the Columbia Theatre box office Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. or by phone at (985) 543-4371.
