LSBDC at Southeastern to host event for veteran owned businesses

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University will present the seminar "Roadmap to Success for Veteran Owned Businesses" in Livingston on Friday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. –12 p.m.

Co-sponsored by the Livingston Economic Development Council, Dixie Business Center and the Livingston Parish Library, the event will be held at the Livingston Parish Library Main Branch, located at 20390 Iowa Street.

Assistant Director of Southeastern's SBDC Sandy Summers said the seminar will provide a roadmap or step-by-step guide for veteran business owners to find government procurement opportunities.

"Mandatory registrations will be explained and beneficial certifications and veteran verification will be presented," said Summers. "A practical marketing strategy will be provided, along with methods of government soliciting. We will also have a special 20-minute presentation on 'Finding the Money – SBA Loan Programs for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses."

Guest speakers are Cindy Carrier with Louisiana PTAC and Melissa Daigrepont with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
