HAMMOND – The Hammond Ponchatoula Sunriser Rotary Club recently pledged to triple
the value of its current scholarship offerings for Southeastern Louisiana University
scholarships.
Initiated in 2011 and completed in 2012, the club’s initial scholarship helped
defray the costs of tuition for a selected student. With the rising costs of tuition,
the club decided to enhance the endowed value of its scholarship in order to significantly
increase the annual scholarship disbursement.
“Our goal is to have the scholarship provide about $1,000 each year to its recipient,”
said Greg Earles, president of the club.
“This is a great show of support for Southeastern and its students. It is so
important that we have a strong scholarship program to ensure that students who can
attend and achieve have the opportunity to do so,” noted Wendy Lauderdale, vice president
for advancement for Southeastern. “We are so appreciative of the Hammond Ponchatoula
Sunriser Rotary Club for their generosity.”
