HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern
Louisiana University is hosting a seminar titled “Franchise Megatrends: Is Franchise
Ownership a Realistic Career Alternative for You?” on Wednesday, July 15, from 9:30
to 11 a.m.
Co-sponsored by the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, SCORE, and the
St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce, the free seminar will be held at the St. Tammany
West Chamber of Commerce, located at 610 Hollycrest Blvd. in Covington.
Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, said the educational
and interactive workshop will teach participants about franchise business ownership
and the numerous opportunities available in the franchise world.
“If you’re looking to be your own boss and would like to learn about franchising
options in Louisiana, this class will serve as a great starting point,” she said.
“Instructor Ted Fireman will share FranNet’s 27 years of business and franchise ownership
experience.”
Summers said the event will answer topics such as franchise megatrends; misconceptions
about types and costs of franchises (no fast food); how to own a business without
running daily operations; how to conduct a structured, safe search for the right franchise;
and if franchise ownership can bring control of a financial future and personal schedule.
There is no cost to attend the event; however, registration is limited to 15.
Those who register by July 10, Summers said, can take a free business ownership assessment
online and receive a 10 page report before the seminar.
