HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern
Louisiana University will present the seminar “ReBoot: From Service to Startup for
Veterans and Military Service Members” in Walker on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. –
5 p.m.
Co-sponsored by the Livingston Economic Development Council, the Louisiana District
Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Louisiana Department of
Veterans Affairs, and the Louisiana Economic Development, the free event will be held
at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center, located at 9261 Florida Blvd.
Assistant Director of Southeastern’s SBDC Sandy Summers said the seminar is an
entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the SBA.
“Veterans have the motivation, character, discipline and skills needed to succeed
as small business owners and entrepreneurs,” said Summers. “Are you a military veteran
or veteran’s spouse who is thinking about business ownership? Wondering what it takes
and what you can do to prepare? Enrolling in the ReBoot entrepreneurship class is
one step you can take now.”
Summers said the course focuses on steps for evaluating business concepts, the
foundational knowledge required to develop a business plan, and information on SBA
resources available to help access startup capital and additional technical assistance.
Guest speakers from the following agencies are scheduled: U.S. Small Business
Administration, Louisiana Economic Development, Small Business Development Center,
and Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
There is no cost to attend the event; however, pre-registration is preferred,
as seating is limited. For more information, contact LSBDC Southeastern at 985-549-3831
