St. Paul's student wins Region 8 Science Fair

     HAMMOND – Joshua Devier of St. Paul’s School was the overall winner of the 2016 Region 8 Science Fair at Southeastern Louisiana University February 19. His winning project, “The Effect of St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) on The Reproduction of Hydra (Hydra littoralis),” received first place honors in the senior division microbiology category.
     Ethan Diliberto, a homeschooled student, was the overall winner of the junior division. His project, “How Accurate Are Eye Witness Testimonies?” placed first in the behavioral and social science category.
     All first and second place regional winners will advance to the state science fair later this spring at Louisiana State University.
     This year’s Region 8 Science Fair was sponsored by Cleco Power, Shell Oil Company, Entergy, Valero St. Charles Refinery, and the Kinder Morgan Foundation. Each sponsors the fair as a way of supporting educational activities for children.

4) ST. HELENA PARISH SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS ANNOUNCED: St. Helena Parish students Daniel Zeno and Donnie Self of St. Helena College and Career Academy were among the winners recognized at the 2016 Region 8 Science Fair held at Southeastern Louisiana University. With them is Entergy Northshore Customer Service Representative Eunice Harris. Entergy was one of the sponsors of the science fair.
