Louisiana SBDC at Southeastern to host seminar on trading

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University is hosting a free seminar March 9 on international trade called “Winning
the Trade Game: Exporting Basics for Louisiana Business.”
Co-sponsored with the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, St. Tammany
West Chamber of Commerce and Northshore SCORE, the seminar will be from 9 to 11 a.m.
at the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation, located at 21489 Koop Drive in
Mandeville.
Assistant Director of the SBCD Sandy Summers said topics of discussion will include
basics of exporting; things to consider when creating an export plan; US Commercial
Service – areas of assistance; funding available for international trade; getting
paid and reducing payment risk; SBA products for exporters; increasing export sales;
and LA STEP grant program.
Guest speakers for the event are Sheba Person-Whitley, LED senior international
trade manager; Reginald Harley, SBA international finance specialist; and Crystal
Mills, international trade specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service New Orleans.
Although the seminar is free, seating is only guaranteed for pre-registered attendees.
