HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University will host a free seminar July 25 titled “Setting Up Your Business for Online
Retailing.”
Co-sponsored with the Greater Hammond Chamber of Commerce and Northshore SCORE,
the seminar is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. at the LSBDC main office in the Southeast
Louisiana Business Center, located at 1514 Martens Dr. in Hammond.
“E-commerce is a rapidly growing industry as businesses realize the success that
comes with implementing e-commerce into their business strategies. It’s also cheaper
and less risky than a brick-and-mortar store because there are fewer overhead costs,”
said Assistant Director of the SBDC Sandy Summers.
Summers said that unlike brick-and-mortar stores, online retailing can reach
customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and expand geographical opportunities
by offering products worldwide.
“If you currently own a brick-and-mortar, you know that offline marketing and
advertising costs can be high and difficult to track. Online marketing and advertising,
however, are less expensive and can be targeted to relevant audiences,” she said.
“Join us for an overview of all the pieces to getting started with an online e-commerce
platform.”
Guest speaker for the event is Orhan McMillian of Dezins Interactive.
Although the seminar is free, seating is only guaranteed for pre-registered attendees.
