HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University will host a free seminar Aug. 1 on search engine optimization.
Co-sponsored with the Livingston Economic Development Council and the Livingston
Parish Library, the seminar titled “Five Keys to Great Search Engine Optimization”
is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Livingston Parish Library main branch,
located at 20390 Iowa Street in Livingston.
“Search engine optimization (SEO) works to maximize the number of visitors to
a particular website by ensuring the site appears high on the list of results returned
by a search engine,” said Assistant Director of the SBDC Sandy Summers. “All major
search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo have primary search results, where web
pages and other content, including videos or local listings, are shown and ranked
based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users.”
Summers said the SEO seminar is designed for business owners, marketing executives,
and anyone looking to enhance their range of SEO experience.
“At this event, we will look at organic versus paid search traffic, Google products
like Places, Plus and Business, and how they affect your ranking,” she said. “We will
also discuss how to ensure your page is Google compliant.”
Guest speaker for the event is Robbie van Mullem of 3 Sided Media.
Although the seminar is free, seating is only guaranteed for pre-registered attendees.
