     HAMMOND – Four students received the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ highest honor, the Dean’s Award, at the college’s annual honors convocation held on campus recently.
     The Dean’s Award in the Department of Health and Human Sciences was presented to two students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program: Maya Gauthier of Hahnville and Erin Hargis of Luling. The Dean’s Award in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies went to Amber Lasher of Hammond, while the School of Nursing Dean’s Award went to Lauren Oubre of Donaldsonville.
     The Significant Partnership Award was presented by each department in recognition of contributions to the educational programs in the college. Peggy Sloan, area manager of Therapy Management Corp. of Baton Rouge, accepted the award from the Department of Health and Human Sciences for providing a clinical site for communication sciences and disorders students. Spectrum Fitness and Medical Wellness of Baton Rouge, represented by Bill Gvoich, director of the Medical Wellness Program, was honored by the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies for internship opportunities helping students gain experience designing and supervising exercise programs for people with physical limitations. The School of Nursing honored Ochsner Health System of New Orleans for their work with doctoral level students; accepting the award was Karen Rice of Ochsner’s Center for Nursing Research.
