HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University will host a class in Walker designed to help businesses understand and
grow E-commerce.
Co-sponsored by Louisiana Economic Development, Livingston Economic Development
Council, Dixie Business Center, and the U.S. Small Business Administration, the class
is scheduled Sept. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Livingston Parish Literacy
and Technology Center, located at 9261 Florida Blvd.
Titled “E-Commerce Business Blueprint: Action Plan on How to Increase Your Sales
via Amazon and other Channels,” the class will feature three experts that will speak
about the importance of E-commerce and help businesses get setup on the right channels.
“As digital consumers increase, the need to have your products and services available
online is critical. If your retail, service based, or business-to-business wholesale
company plans to successfully compete in the marketplace, it is imperative you attend
this event,” said SBDC Assistant Director Sandy Summers. “National experts will be
on hand to give you the latest trends and information to help you start and grow your
E-commerce business. The class will be jam packed with information you can use immediately
in your business.”
Guest speakers include Eric Kooyman, founder and president of Harnessing Strengths,
LLC; Joe Kovacs, founder of Brand Guarde; and Shannon Roddy, Amazon specialist and
founder of Marketplace Seller Courses.
Kooyman has developed E-commerce websites, marketing campaigns and growth strategies
for over 140 companies. With over 15 years experience in online marketing, he specializes
in E-commerce development, search engine optimization, paid search marketing, content
marketing, social marketing, lead generation, and more.
Kovacs started his E-commerce business on Amazon with $400, and within two years,
he and his wife saw their E-commerce venture grow into multiple six-figure businesses,
Summers said. Using the skills that led to success on Amazon, Kovacs founded Brand
Guarde in 2016 to help companies make Amazon a channel of strength for their business
through brand protection and sales optimization services.
Roddy has consulted with over 70 clients, helping them set-up, optimize and launch
on Amazon. His company has helped sellers obtain No. 1 New Release for several products,
as well as assist with multiple No. 1 Best Selling Products on Amazon.com.
Summers said topics to be covered include what it takes for an E-commerce business
to succeed; examples of national and local Louisiana companies that have succeeded
with E-commerce; competitive advantages via E-commerce; E-commerce sales channels
like Amazon, eBay, Etsy.com and Walmart.com; how to optimize the Amazon seller experience;
and the dangers of ignoring E-commerce.
The cost to attend the course is $20, and pre-registration is required.
