HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Community Music School (CMS) is accepting
registrations for its 2018 spring session, which begins on Jan. 22.
Registration has already begun and will remain open throughout the semester;
however, registrations received after Jan. 15 will incur a $20 late fee.
The spring semester will offer private lessons, taught by Southeastern’s music
faculty and student instructors, on various instruments and voice to students of all
ages and backgrounds.
“We are excited about the new year, the new semester and all of the events we
will be hosting,” said CMS Director Jivka Duke. “In addition to the 13-week private
lessons semester for various instruments and voice, students can take advantage of
our five-week orchestra session for string instrument players, the Spring Festival
for all instruments and the Double Reed Workshop for bassoon and oboe players.”
“In 2018 CMS will also offer a new High School Band Camp in addition to the annual
Middle School Band Camp, and we could not be more excited about providing a platform
for the musical endeavors of the younger generation in our community,” Duke added.
Duke said the generous sponsorship of First Guaranty Bank will allow the CMS
to once again offer discounted tuition to students who were on reduced or free lunch
at their schools during the 2016-2017 academic year.
