HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University is hosting a free government contracting course in Walker July 31.
Co-sponsored by Louisiana PTAC, the workshop titled “Get on Schedule with GSA:
Step by Step Guide to Doing Business with the Federal Government” will take place
from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center lecture
hall, located at 9261 Florida Blvd.
GSA (General Services Administration) Lead Small Business Specialist Albert Garza
will serve as speaker for the course.
According to SBDC Assistant Director Sandy Summers, the course goes into details
of how a company can become a GSA Schedule Contractor, going over procedures, tips
and guidance for obtaining a GSA Schedule.
“The course is presented in two parts,” said Summers. “The first part deals with
market research and finding a ‘niche’ that would help a company find business as a
GSA Contractor. The second part goes into the details of submitting a solicitation
offer and working through the contracting process. We will end the seminar with a
question and answer session and one-on-one counseling.”
Summers said under the GSA Schedules Program, GSA establishes long-term government-wide
contracts with commercial firms to provide access to over 11 million commercial supplies
and services that can be ordered directly from GSA Schedule contractors or through
the GSA Advantage!® online shopping and ordering system.
