Southeastern SBDC to host government contracting certification course for women owned small businesses

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University is hosting a free government contracting certification course in Lacombe.
Co-sponsored by Northshore Technical Community College, the Woman-Owned Small
Business Certification (WOSB) Seminar will take place Tuesday, July 17, from 10 a.m.
to 12 p.m., at the Northshore Technical Community College STEM Campus, located at
65556 Centerpoint Blvd., Suite 105 B, in Lacombe.
The speaker for the course is Jo Lawrence, deputy district director of the U.S.
Small Business Administration. Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required.
“Women business owners should seek to leverage the opportunities available through
the federal government to drive revenue growth,” said SBDC Assistant Director Sandy
Summers. “This workshop will guide you in doing just that.”
Topics to be covered include women-owned small businesses federal government
contract set-asides; final WOSB ruling, impact and advantage; eligible NAICS codes;
certification process; identifying contract opportunities; effectively responding
to requests for government proposals; and completing required registrations.
