HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University student organization Reconnect
is hosting a farmers market on March 21 in front of the Student Union from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
Sponsored by the Sociology and Criminal Justice Department, the market will feature locally grown produce, pies, jams, cookies, coffee, soaps, arts and crafts, live music and more.
“Reconnect is having the biggest Farmer’s Market so far with more students and organizations involved,” said Reconnect President Diana Taj, a biological sciences major from Kenner. “All faculty, students, and friends are welcome to come out and see all of Hammond’s local vendors.”
Student vendors are encouraged to participate in the market by emailing Farmer’s Market Intern Ta’Lynn Belle at firstname.lastname@example.org. A table is provided at no charge.
A student environmental club, Reconnect participates in the Real Food Challenge, a
national effort among college students to promote the use of locally grown, healthy and
sustainable food products.
