HAMMOND – Erin Moore Cowser, executive director of public and governmental affairs
at Southeastern Louisiana University, has been appointed to the American Association
of State Colleges and Universities Task Force on Higher Education Government Relations.
According to AASCU, the task force is composed of a diverse collection of state governmental affairs professionals that represents the spectrum of American public higher education, which takes a leading role in planning the annual Higher Education Government Relations Conference.
Cowser, a member of the executive staff at Southeastern since 2007, will be charged with helping create a valuable educational forum for state government relations professionals to network and share strategies and ideas on how to effectively advance the public higher education agenda.
“Erin has earned the trust and respect of campus, community and business leaders,” said Southeastern President John L. Crain. “She herself is a leader who can forge relationships across many varied realms, and will represent Southeastern well at the national level.”
Cowser has been honored with the Edwin Crawford Award for Innovation in Governmental Advocacy presented by AASCU, American Association of State Colleges and Land-Grant Colleges and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. She was tapped as one of Inside Publications’ Influential Women in Business and was named a Woman of the Year honoree by New Orleans CityBusiness, as well as one of the Northshore’s Finest Under 40 by Inside Northside Magazine.
