HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University students Payton Bryant of Luling
and Torrie Williams of Amite were named Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teachers
by the College of Education at its honors convocation May 3.
The college also announced the recipients of departmental honors, scholarships,
grants and new members of the Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Alpha honor societies
and Southeastern’s own Thirteen Club honor society.
The list of students receiving honors included:
AMITE – Torrie Danielle Williams, Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher
Award.
HAMMOND – Lyndsey DeVaney, International Baccalaureate Resident.
LORANGER – Hycy Giacone, Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education, 1-5.
LULING – Payton Bryant, Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher Award; and Abbie Manuel Outstanding Graduate in English Education.
MANDEVILLE – Bridget Price, Outstanding Graduate in Middle School Education, 4-8.
PONCHATOULA – Brittany Jefferson, Outstanding Graduate in Early Childhood Education, PK-3; Kyle Brown, Outstanding Graduate in Special Education; Victoria Kinchen, nominee for Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher; and Laura Huggett, International Baccalaureate Resident.
SAINT AMANT –Tiffany Borne, Outstanding Graduate in Social Studies Education; and Cody Cooper, Outstanding Graduate in Mathematics Education.
WALKER – Kara Norris, nominee for Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher Award.

1) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (ASCENSION) – Tiffany Borne of Saint Amant was recognized at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 3. Borne was recognized as the
Outstanding Graduate in Social Studies Education.
2) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (LIVINGSTON) – Kara Norris of Walker, was recognized at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 3. Norris was recognized as a
nominee for the Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher.
3) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (ST. CHARLES) – Payton Bryant, left, and Abbie Manuel, both of Luling, were recognized at the Southeastern
Louisiana University College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 3. Bryant
was named Outstanding Elementary Education Student Teacher and Manuel was recognized
as Outstanding Graduate in English Education.
4) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (ST. TAMMANY) –Bridget Price of Mandeville was named the Outstanding Graduate in Middle School
Education, 4-8, at the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education’s annual
honors convocation May 3.
5) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (Tangipahoa) – Students from Tangipahoa Parish were recognized at the Southeastern Louisiana University
College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 3. From left are, Kyle Brown
