LSBDC at Southeastern to host event for Government Contracting

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern
Louisiana University will present the seminar “Roadmap to Success for Government Contracting”
in Hammond on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. –12 p.m.
Co-sponsored by Louisiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), the
event will be held at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center, located at 1514 Martens
Dr.
Assistant Director of Southeastern’s SBDC Sandy Summers said the seminar will
provide a roadmap or step-by-step guide for business owners to find government procurement
opportunities.
“The event coincides with National Small Business Veterans week, so although
anyone interested in government contracting is welcome to attend, there a special
section that focuses on programs for VOSB’s or veteran owned small businesses,” she
said.
Topics to be covered include the federal definition of veteran and service disabled
veteran; Veterans Affairs (VA) verification process, certifications and registrations,
forecast of contracting opportunities; veteran first contracting program, doing business
with the VA, VA on FedBizOpps, VA Small Business Liaisons – identify first points
of contact, VA socioeconomic goals and accomplishments, effective capability statement,
effective marketing strategy, and effective subcontracting pursuits.
Guest speaker is Cindy Carrier with Louisiana PTAC.
There is no cost to attend the event; however, pre-registration is preferred,
