HAMMOND – The public is invited to take part in the first ever Community Gardening
Day hosted by the Southeastern Louisiana University Sustainability Center. The event
is set for Sept. 25, at 5 p.m., at the Southeastern Sustainability Center, located
at 2101 N. Oak St. in Hammond.
It is hoped that community members will join with the several student organizations
that have already confirmed participation, including Reconnect, MBA Society, BUGs,
BUS, Lion Designer, SGA, NAACP, and the Wesley Foundation.
Activities include pulling weeds and readying gardening beds to plant seeds.
Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring gloves and a reusable
water bottle, as water and ice will be made available. Gardening tools will be available.
