HAMMOND – Recognizing the value of a smooth transition from the high school to
university environment, Southeastern Louisiana University will host its second leadership
conference designed specifically for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors
March 15.
“EvolveU” is a one-day conference of fun, interactive and educational experiences
where student leaders are able to develop, cultivate, and evolve their leadership
skills, said Academic Advisor for the Center for Student Excellence Kandace Formaggio.
“This conference will be a way for high school students to learn leadership skills
while interacting with college students,” said Formaggio. “Southeastern student leaders
will facilitate workshops based on the four main topics of the conference: leadership
coaching, collaboration techniques, communication, and achieving balance.”
Workshops will also be available for high school faculty and staff attending
the conference, which will be held in Southeastern’s Student Union. A full schedule
of sessions and events will be available closer to the March 15 conference date.
Formaggio said high schools from across the state have been invited to the conference.
“We have asked high school counselors or high school organization or club sponsors
to organize the registration process for their schools,” she said. “Each school is
encouraged to bring 20 high school students and two faculty and staff members.”
Registration for EvolveU is $30 per participant, whether students, faculty or
staff members, until Feb. 1. Registration will be $35 per participant Feb. 2 – 22.
The last day to register is Feb. 22.
