Kristen Calfee
Southeastern Louisiana Student
Social Media Influencer

Ms. Kristen Calfee will be graduating from Southeastern in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing.  She is currently a Social Media Influencer with over 50,000 followers on her YouTube channel and serves as a marketing intern for Globalstar, Inc.  Ms. Calfee eats avocado EVERY day, recently lost over 75 pounds, and auditioned for American Idol's upcoming season.  Her audition will air March 3rd when we will all find out if she did indeed get a golden ticket!



Michael Kyles, Jr.
Principal, Hammond Eastside Magnet

Michael Kyles, Jr. is a 2009 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where he obtained a degree in Social Studies Education. He received his Masters Degree in 2012 in Educational Leadership. While at Southeastern, Michael was involved in numerous organizations including: Campus Activities Board, NAACP, SGA, The SLU Gospel Choir, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Michael was the 2006 Division of Student Affairs Outstanding Man, 2007 Homecoming King, and Mr. Southeastern 2007. He is the current president of the Kappa Psi Sigma alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and is a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University African American Alumni Chapter. Michael has appeared as a host on the College Night, Southeastern Star, and co-host for the Miss Southeastern Pageant. He has been employed with the Tangipahoa Parish School System for ten years and currently works at Hammond Eastside Magnet School where he currently serves as principal.




Melissa Stilley
Superintendent, Tangipahoa Parish School System

Following an extensive nationwide search for their next School Superintendent,the Tangipahoa Parish School Board selected Melissa Martin Stilley, a Tangipahoa native whose career in public education began the classroom.

During her 30-year career in education, Melissa has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, district supervisor, and Chief Academic Officer for the Tangipahoa Parish School System. 

In July 2012, Melissa was tapped for a position with the Louisiana Department of Education, where she was named Network Leader for Northeast Louisiana for three years, and served another three years supporting South Louisiana school districts. Melissa has been blessed to have worked with over half of the districts across the state.

Through all these assignments, Melissa’s heart was always with the children of Tangipahoa Parish. Earlier this month, she became the first woman ever selected to serve as Superintendent of Schools in her home parish.

Melissa is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership. She earned her Master's Degree in School Administration in 1999, Plus 30 in Special Education in 2000, and Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1987, all from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.

Melissa is a John Maxwell Leadership Certified Trainer and was recognized by Southeastern Louisiana University in 2018 as the Distinguished Alumnus from the College of Education. Melissa also serves on the board of directors for the Louisiana Superintendent’s Academy, which provides yearlong training for potential superintendents.

She is married to Lloyd Stilley, and they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren, and they are all products of the Tangipahoa Parish School System.
