Southeastern Louisiana University’s Fanfare, the annual fall arts, humanities and social sciences festival, will present the first lecture of the Then and Now Lecture Series on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., in Pottle Auditorium on Southeastern’s campus.
David A. Ensminger, an instructor at Lee College, will present “Rebelling Against Everything: Punk, Subversion, Diversity, and Fandom.”
A photographer, drummer, multimedia journalist, and the author of several books covering both American roots music and punk rock history, most recently “Roots Punk: An Oral History,” Ensminger will discuss punk music’s disruptive history, long-term diversity, and participatory culture. The following night he will appear on the Columbia Theatre stage in downtown Hammond as part of “Hey, Ho! Let’s Go: 50 Years of CBGB.”
