Southeastern students inducted into Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society

Over 30 students at Southeastern Louisiana University were recently inducted into the university’s chapter of the prestigious national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.

Over 30 students at Southeastern Louisiana University were recently inducted into the university’s chapter of the prestigious national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.

Southeastern Phi Kappa Phi President Amber Narro opened the ceremony with a warm welcome, expressing pride in the accomplishments and academic achievements of the students and faculty being inducted into the prestigious honor society.

Southeastern Contemporary Art Gallery Director and Curator and Visual Art + Design Professor Christina Molina delivered the keynote address that emphasized the importance of art and creative collaboration to build community in today’s world. Her speech encouraged the inductees to continue building their networks to uphold community and to support each other in their creative and academic endeavors.

Awards as Outstanding Students from Southeastern’s five academic colleges were presented to Madeline McCauley, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Georgia Gemell, College of Business; Jessica Champagne, College of Education; Laici Edrington, College of Nursing and Health Sciences; and Yacoub Qamar, College of Science and Technology. Also, Makayla Delmore was awarded the Phi Kappa Phi Lou Ballard Endowed Scholarship; Julia Jordan was awarded the Earl and Carole Corkern Endowed Scholarship; and Abigail Bravata was awarded the Joan Faust Memorial Phi Kappa Phi Endowed Scholarship.

To be considered for membership in the organization, a student must be in the top 10 percent of their senior or graduate class or a second semester junior in the top 7.5 percent of his or her class.
