Southeastern to debut Centennial Book

Southeastern Louisiana University is debuting a special historical book to mark its 100th anniversary. Titled “Southeastern 100: The Story of Southeastern Louisiana University’s First Century,” the book will be available in November. A special event celebrating the book launch will be held in mid-November, with additional details forthcoming.

The limited edition book presents a sweeping overview of the first century, highlighted by over 400 photographs, and captures the people, places, and milestones that shaped Southeastern’s story.

“Mark Southeastern’s 100 years with a commemorative keepsake,” said Assistant Director of Marketing and Content and the book’s editor and co-writer Sheri Gibson. “With your $30 donation, you’ll receive this beautiful new publication while also supporting Southeastern and its students as we begin our next century.”

The book jacket states, “It started as a dream and became a century of transformation. In 1925, a small-town high school principal had a grand vision of bringing higher education and opportunity to his community. Within nine months, he and other determined citizens turned that dream into a college – changing lives for generations to come. Over the course of its first century, through wars, societal changes, budget crises, and natural disasters, Southeastern’s community stood united, meeting every challenge with resilience and ingenuity. Each obstacle became a step toward greater growth. This is the true story of a singular dream that became an enduring legacy – an unstoppable ripple of impact that continues to spread across Louisiana, the nation, and the world.”
