Southeastern to host Science in Action at Middendorf’s Manchac

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project team will host a free event titled “Science in Action: Research and Education on Lake Maurepas” on Friday, March 20, at Middendorf’s Manchac in Akers, La.

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project team will host a free event titled “Science in Action: Research and Education on Lake Maurepas” on Friday, March 20, at Middendorf’s Manchac in Akers, La. Scheduled from 4 until 6 p.m., the event will publicize the latest data from the monitoring efforts to the local community, including citizenry, local political leaders, non-profit environmental organizations, and business leaders.

Capacity for the free event is limited to 60 people and includes a complimentary dinner buffet. Registration is required and available at https://www.southeastern.edu/college-of-science-and-technology/center-for-environmental-research/lakemaurepas/events/. Slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis until the session is full.

Presentations from Southeastern’s Dean of Research and Innovation Daniel McCarthy, Center for Environmental Research Director Kyle Piller, and Turtle Cove Environmental Research Station Manager Rob Moreau will begin at 4:30 p.m., and Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project staff will be present at their poster stations for questions from 4 – 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 – 6 p.m.

The buffet menu includes chicken and smoked andouille jambalaya, Middendorf’s famous fried catfish, creamy coleslaw, mixed green salad, and hush puppies served with tea or soft drinks.
