Southeastern Louisiana University graduate Nyoki Mokeba has been named Southeastern Louisiana University’s 2026 Young Alumnus of the Year. He is a double graduate of Southeastern, receiving a bachelor of arts in marketing in 2011 and a master of business administration degree in 2013. Mokeba will be officially recognized at the Southeastern Alumni Awards Evening to be held Oct. 16, during Homecoming week.
“We are proud to honor Nyoki Mokeba as our 2026 Young Alumnus of the Year. He is a distinguished business and construction industry leader whose career exemplifies the impact, leadership, and ambition of a Southeastern graduate,” said Southeastern Interim Alumni Relations Director Amanda Hammonds. “To be recognized with this distinction speaks to Nyoki’s remarkable achievements and his deep commitment to our university. He truly embodies the very best of what it means to be a Lion for Life.”
Mokeba currently serves as corporate director of equipment sourcing for Performance Contractors, Inc. in Baton Rouge, where he provides enterprise leadership for equipment sourcing, pricing strategy, capital planning, and asset profitability across the company’s operating divisions. During his tenure with Performance Contractors, he has helped transform equipment operations through innovative sourcing strategies, utilization analytics, pricing optimization, and contract governance.
With over 12 years of experience in the construction industry, Mokeba has led equipment and cost management operations on some of the nation’s largest industrial construction projects, including billion-dollar projects for Space XAI, ExxonMobil and Sasol. His expertise in capital allocation, procurement, contract management, and operational efficiency has made him a trusted advisor to executive leadership and a respected voice in the industry.
In 2026, Mokeba was named Associated Builders and Contractors’ National Young Professional of the Year, one of the construction industry’s premier recognitions for emerging leaders. The award recognizes professionals under the age of 40 who demonstrate exceptional career achievement, leadership, and vision for the future of the commercial and industrial construction industry. He was also named Mentor of the Year by LSU’s Department of Construction Management and has previously received the ABC Pelican Chapter Committee Member of the Year Award.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mokeba is deeply committed to leadership and service. He has served as chair and vice chair of the ABC Pelican Chapter Young Professionals Committee and currently serves on the Executive Board of the American Cancer Society’s Fork Cancer initiative. He is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Emerging Leaders Council and the ECC Future Leaders Program. His commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals includes mentoring construction management students and supporting workforce development initiatives.
Alumni Awards Evening will also include recognition of several Southeastern faculty, staff and alumni, including Alumnus of the Year for 2026 retired executive and former Senior Vice President at Chick-fil-A Robert “Rob” Dugas.
