Southeastern Louisiana University sustains another robust fall semester enrollment with 15,492 students enrolled, according to the official 14th day enrollment census. Southeastern continues to see growth in key student enrollment categories.
“Our continued enrollment growth reflects the confidence students and families have in Southeastern and the value of a Southeastern education,” said Southeastern President William S. Wainwright. “Growth among incoming freshmen, honors, transfer and graduate students demonstrates the impact of strategic investments in how we serve our students. The Transfer Student Success Center, established in 2024, has helped drive transfer enrollment growth, while expanded graduate programs are creating new opportunities for students to advance their education and careers.”
“Southeastern also supports 748 veterans, dependents and military service members through a range of resources, including its Veterans Upward Bound program, academic and personal counseling, military-and veteran-specific scholarships, and flexible online and distance learning options,” Wainwright explained. “Strategic growth centered on student success strengthens Southeastern and our ability to serve Louisiana for generations to come.”
Southeastern experienced growth in several categories.
• Undergraduate enrollment rose by 1.2 percent.
• Graduate enrollment grew by 2.4 percent.
• New first-time freshmen increased by 1.8 percent.
• New incoming graduate students rose by 6.1 percent.
• New incoming transfer students increased by 8 percent.
• Total hours taken grew by 2.6 percent for undergraduates and 2.9 percent for graduate students.
• Overall student credit hours registered rose by 1.7 percent.
“Our enrollment growth is encouraging, and our focus remains on ensuring students have the support and opportunities they need to succeed,” said Chief Enrollment Management Officer Kay Maurin. “The growth we are seeing across freshmen, transfer, graduate, and honors enrollment reflects Southeastern’s commitment to meeting students where they are and providing pathways to a degree and a successful career. We are proud to welcome more students to the Lion community and remain focused on helping them reach their goals.”
Continued growth was also achieved in the College of Honors and Excellence, where enrollment saw an 18.8 percent increase over last year, experiencing the largest incoming freshman honors class ever, as well as the largest overall enrollment in Southeastern’s history.
“Our growing honors enrollment is further proof that Southeastern continues to become a university of choice for high achieving students,” said Dean of the College of Honors and Excellence Claire Procopio.
