As the nation marked the 25th Anniversary of Sept. 11, Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of Military and Veteran Success, the University Police Department, and Roomie’s Pride Pantry hosted the second annual Memorial Stair Climb and Community Service for 9/11 Day. One of the largest days of charitable engagement in the U.S., 9/11 Day inspires millions of people each year to honor the victims, survivors, and heroes of Sept. 11 through acts of service.
Southeastern’s University Center was a flurry of activity as over 200 firefighters and community members spent their morning climbing 110 stories to honor the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The event was sponsored through a grant from 9/11 Day.
Those unable to physically complete the stair climb participated as volunteers at either Southeastern’s Sustainability Garden or Roomie’s Pride Pantry.
