Dr. Matthew Alford is the Director of MBA Programs and an Instructor of Economics in the College of Business at Southeastern Louisiana University. He earned his Ph.D. and Bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from Mississippi State University and has been teaching at Southeastern since 2007.
Dr. Alford led the successful launch of the MBA Online program in Fall 2023, expanding access and flexibility for graduate business students. Known for helping students connect economic theory to real-world events, he encourages critical thinking beyond the textbook.
A dedicated advocate for student engagement, Dr. Alford actively supports programs such as Lion Pride Preview, Scholars Showcase, Emerging Leaders, the Young Economists’ Society, and the MBA Society. Outside of Garrett Hall, he enjoys cheering on the Lions with his wife, Sarah, and their two daughters.
