The family studies concentration prepares students to enhance the lives of children and families through research, classroom instruction, and internship experiences.

 

The following are examples of positions that may be held by individuals with a degree in FCS - Family Studies:

 

  • Crisis Center
  • Parenting Educator
  • Day Care Director or Teacher
  • Head Start Program Teacher
  • Youth Program Director
  • Child Advocate
  • Teen Parent Programs
  • Toy Companies
  • Child and Youth-Centered Retail
  • Family Services Worker
  • Child/Youth Activity Coordinator for Resorts and Cruise Lines
  • Marriage Enrichment Programs
  • Adult/Elderly Care
  • Drug & Alcohol Programs
  • Resource Room Teacher
  • After School Program Director
  • Camp Counselor
  • Children's Services
  • Children's Museums
  • Children's Book Author and/or Editor
  • Nanny/Au Pair
  • Administrative Positions in Hospitals and Mental Health Centers such as

       Volunteer Services and Patient Relations

  • Family Advocate Extension Agent (may require a Masters Degree)
