2019 Southeastern Concerto Competition Rules
- Who is eligible to participate:
Any student who is currently registered at the Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Music and Performing Arts
Print and fill out the attached official registration form (also available at Shuwanda´s office) and leave it in Dr. Cruz´s mail box.
- Deadline to register:
Thursday, February 28, 2019, 5:00 p.m.
- Date and Time of the competition:
Friday, March 15th, 3:00 p.m.

One round on March 15th, 2019
Instrumentalist:One movement of a concerto.
Singers: 2 arias of different character.
Any student can participate in the competition as soloist or as part of a group of soloists (double, triple concertos, opera duettos, trios etc.). In case the student wants to participate in different formats, a maximum of 2 entries per contestant will be allowed.
The contestants will keep in mind that the accompaniment for their pieces can´t exceed the dimensions of the Southeastern Symphony Orchestra: 12222-2231-Perc-Timp-Strings. Dr. Cruz will have the option of requesting a different piece from any winner whose repertoire is beyond the capabilities of the orchestra.
One candidate will be selected from each category. The winners will perform as soloists at the Gala Concert to be held during the 2019/20 season. The Jury has the right to choose more than one winner per category if there are several candidates that deserve it. The prize can be declared void in any category if none of the candidates reach the required standard.

- Piano accompaniment:
The contestants will have to be accompanied by a pianist. Anyone who chooses to hire a pianist from the Music Department will have to fill out the official request form available at Shuwanda´s office and leave it at Dr. Irina Cunev´s mail box along with a copy of the piano part. The cost of this service will be $35, which includes one rehearsal and the performance at the competition.
- Final considerations:
The judges will have the right to stop the candidate during the performance at any point if they consider they have enough information on the candidate´s level and merit.
The decisions of the Jury are final.
