Minors

Minors



The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice offers minors in five disciplines:

 

1) Anthropology, 2) Criminal Justice, 3) Geography, 4) GIS/ Remote Sensing, and 5) Sociology.

 

A minor will be given in Anthropology upon the completion of 18 hours. A student must successfully complete the following courses:

 

Anthropology 101 (3 credit hrs)

Anthropology 110 (3 credit hrs)

Anthropology 301 or 403 (3 credit hrs)

Anthropology 411 (3 credit hrs)

Anthropology Electives from 300 or 400 level courses (6 credit hrs)

 

A Minor will be given in Criminal Justice upon the successful completion of the following courses:

 

Criminal Justice 101 (3 credit hrs)

Criminal Justice 201 (3 credit hrs)

Criminal Justice 204 (3 credit hrs)

Criminal Justice 205 (3 credit hrs)

Criminal Justice 412 (3 credit hrs)

Criminal Justice 440 (3 credit hrs)

 

A minor will be given in Geography upon the successful completion of 18 hours of Geography courses.

 

A minor will be given in GIS/Remote Sensing upon the successful completion of 18 hours. A student must complete the following courses:

 

Geography 433/533*(3 credit hrs)
Geography 443/543*(3 credit hrs)
Geography 460/560*(3 credit hrs)
Geography 470/570*(3 credit hrs)
Geography 305or 455/555 (3 credit hrs)

Geography elective (any level) (3 credit hrs)

*Preq: Geography 103 and Mathematics 241

 

A minor will be given in Sociology upon the successful completion of 18 hours of Sociology courses. A student must successfully complete the following courses:

 

Sociology 101 (3 credit hrs)

Sociology 305 [234] (3 credit hrs)

Sociology 310 (3 credit hrs)

Sociology 430 (3 credit hrs)

Sociology Electives from 300 or 400 level courses (6 credit hrs)
