Stately skipjack, traditional workboat of Maryland’s
Chesapeake Bay oyster dredgers, is part of the last commercial
fleet still under sail in the country. To conserve declining oyster
harvests, Maryland restricts dredging to boats under sail. At the
turn of the century when this skipjack was built, there were about
