A Message From Mr. Labbe’

Welcome to Southeastern Laboratory School. Our goal is to help develop students who care for others and are creative in their work and encouraging to all. Our students, staff, and families work together to create an environment of high achieving academic success.

The Lab School is a PreK-8th grade school of choice with approximately 260 students. Our students are from very diverse backgrounds with cultures from around the world being represented.

Being a part of Southeastern Louisiana University and Tangipahoa School System makes us a very unique school. Our school is here to help the Teach Education Program by modeling best teaching practices for their students as well as having a place for their students to gain practicum hours and resident teaching experience.

On behalf of our faculty and staff, welcome to another year of committed excellence to academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.

Education and Experience

Mr. Labbe’ earned both his undergraduate degree in education and his Masters in Educational Leadership from Southeastern.  He is currently working on his doctoral degree at SLU.

His teaching career began at Fountainbleau High School and then his Alma Mater, Hammond High, teaching and coaching baseball at both schools. After leaving Hammond High, he became Hammond Eastside’s assistant principal and later the school’s principal.  He has been at the Lab School for four years and loves having fun with our students and watching them grow into young adults.

This is the beginning of his 21st year as an educator.

Curriculum Coach, Scarlett Anderson

Scarlett Anderson

Ms. Anderson has been at the Lab School for three years. She loves the relaxed, family atmosphere and the fact that she knows every student by name. She enjoys painting and reading but devotes most of her time to being a mom to her three children and following them to their sporting events.

This is the beginning of her 20th year as an educator. She first taught 4th and 5th grades at Hammond Westside and then moved to Hammond Eastside, where she was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher in the Accelerated Magnet Program. While working there, she served as a TAP master teacher, a curriculum coach, an IB coordinator and magnet specialist, and an administrative assistant. She currently serves as our curriculum coordinator and coach.

Education

Scarlett earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Southeastern. She also earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from SLU.

School Nurse, Brandi Traylor

Brandi Traylor

In 2015, Brandi found passion and love in our school system by fulfilling the nursing needs of many schools in the parish.  She is happy to have made a home here at SLU Lab School for the past five years and takes pride in working at our school to care for and assist our staff and students.  She loves the relationships she has developed and the part she has played in establishing continuity of care, both of which have helped maintain a healthy and safe environment for everyone on campus.  Brandi is also responsible for providing nursing services at another school in the parish and conducting the medication trainings for TPSS staff members.  Her daughter, Lani, is a Lab School first grader.  She and her husband also have a son, Danny.  She is proud to be a part of the Lab School family and looks forward to another year as our registered nurse…Go Cubs!

This past school year, Nurse Brandi was named a national winner in the LifeChanger of the Year contest. Brandi was selected from more than 850 nominees from across the United States.

Nurse Brandi truly is a Life Changer!!
