Notarial Preparation Course

Course Overview

This course is an introduction to and education for a Louisiana State Notary Public. It is designed to help students prepare for the statewide Louisiana Notarial Exam. However, it is also a great refresher course on civil law basics and sound notarial practice for commissioned notaries and attorneys.

Topics include:

  • Duties of a notary

  • Contracts

  • Juridical acts

  • Miscellaneous acts

  • Donations and sales

  • Wills

The Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice is the official examination study guide. It is available for purchase from the Louisiana Secretary of State online, by mail (see download), fax (225-932-5359), or customer service desk (225.922.0507). Students are responsible for ordering their own books prior to the beginning of class.

Material Fee:

Purchased by student (approx. $100).

Discounts and retakes: Course registrants from the Fall of 2015 and the Spring of 2016 may retake this course for $350.  Proof of prior registration is required.  There are no other discounts available for this course.
