Beginning of Semester Tasks
Here are a few tasks that should be completed by faculty at the beginning of each
semester. Remember, all courses are created in “hidden” status. This means that you
must look in the “Hidden Courses” section of “My Courses” to find any new courses
for the semester.
Resources linked below may show how Moodle functions in a theme that differs from
the Snap theme currently used by Southeastern. The general principles are the same,
but the location of the items may be different.
Add a syllabus to your course
- Click on the module where you want to add your syllabus (usually the Course Information
Module) - Scroll to the bottom of the module and either drag and drop your syllabus into the
box for files or click on the box and browse to select the sylabbus file from your
device.
Add content or activities to your course
Make your course viewable
- Open the course.
- Click the admin wheel in the top right corner
- Choose “edit settings” from the menu
- Change “Visibility” from “Hide” to “Show”
- Select “Save and Display”
Check your gradebook setup
Your course syllabus should have a grading policy that outlines for students how grades
will be calcuated in your course. If you are using Moodle for all of your graded activities,
make sure you check that your Gradebook Setup matches your syllabus grading policy.
