WISE (Workforce & Innovation for a Stronger Economy)

WISE is an effort to encourage students who attend Louisiana colleges and universities
to study key career areas that are in high demand in Louisiana’s growing economy.
This program was created by the Louisiana Legislature in 2014 with the purpose of
providing incentives for colleges and universities to increase the number of students
and graduates in these particular fields of study. 

 

Southeastern, in accordance with WISE, developed the IN DEMAND CAREERS endeavor in
order to promote key academic majors that align with greatly needed occuptions in
Louisiana. As an added incentive, the university is offering scholarships in these
majors for students meeting specific criteria. 

 

Southeastern is embracing WISE to benefit its current students, future students and
the state’s economy. It is a strong partnership that will benefit all involved.

 

New Scholarships just for YOU

The IN DEMAND CAREERS Scholarship provides student assistance in paying for tuition
and/or fees. Qualified students will receive up to a $1,000 per year scholarship.
These funds will be automatically applied to a student’s fee bill to immediately issue
the credit.

 

The scholarship has two key qualification components for students: first, a student
must be in a WISE field of study and second, must meet the financial need requirement.

 

Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and
be eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant.
