Southeastern Louisiana University offers a Flexible Benefits Plan that allows full-time employees to increase their take-home pay by reducing their taxes. Under the Flexible Benefits Plan, coverage for qualified benefit plans can be paid for on a pre-tax basis. This means that any benefits you elect to receive under the plan are not taxed, and are not included in your taxable income.
Once an employee decides to enter the Flexible Benefits Plan, they become locked-in to their Benefit package and are unable to drop-out or change plans except during Open Enrollment in the month of October or if conditions exist as a qualifying event such as marriage, birth of a child, change in eligibility of a dependent, etc.
