Living on Campus

We highly recommend that new international students apply to live on campus their first year in the U.S.  Not only will you have all of the comforts of home, but you will also meet many new friends, have direct access to the library, classrooms, and computer labs, and be close to campus activities.

If you are interested in living on campus, you must submit the online application and the prepayments and processing fees. Information on how to apply can be found on our University Housing web page.

Please note that the International Services Office cannot assist you with arranging your living accommodations. Though we are happy to assist you with any questions you may have, it is your responsibility to submit the housing application and pay the fees. Failure to do so will result in you not receiving housing on campus. Should you arrive without having made living accommodations, we will be unable to temporarily house you.

For detailed information, visit the University Housing site.

Arriving to Your Dorm

If you have made on campus accommodations, you may check into your dorm room when you arrive. You may call the Resident Assistant On-Call over the residence you live in. This phone number will have been emailed to you by University Housing along with other information. If you arrive on campus and do not have access to a phone, you may go to the University Police Station at any time, day or night and the UPD will contact the Resident On-Call.  The University Police Station is located in Pride Hall across from the library. You may ask your driver to drop you off at Pride Hall on SGA Drive. The address is 1301 SGA Drive, Hammond, LA 70401.

Important Information

It is advised that you bring what you can but traveling internationally does limit what you can physically bring with you.  The dorms do not contain linens, towels, toiletries, appliances, etc. You will need to supply that on your own. To help, you may pre-order some of your supplies through these options and have it delivered to Housing before you arrive.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to be taken to a local shopping center to get any remaining items you may need. This shopping trip typically takes place on the day of International Student orientation but you will be contacted by the Multicultural and International Student Affairs Office regarding the details.
