Preparation is the key for a great college experience – so to help, we have created a short checklist to help you on your way to a successful fall semester.

Fee Payment Deadline

Check Workday for any outstanding charges. Classes will be canceled for students with outstanding charges on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm (unless anticipated/pending financial aid covers the outstanding charges).

Fall 2024 Checklist

  • How do I get advised?
    • If you have less than 30 hours of college credit, you will be advised by the Office for First-Year Success. For assistance reach out to [email protected].
    • If you have more than 30 hours of college credit, you will be advised by your academic department.
      See the department of your major for information on academic advising. 
  • How do I register for classes?
    • Once you have been advised, you can enroll in classes via Workday. Step-by-step GUIDES on how to enroll are available here: Workday Student Resources  (log in: W# and email password)
  • When is the last day to register classes for Fall? 
    • Open registration ends Thursday, August 15 at 5:00 pm.   
    • Schedule adjustment begins Saturday, August 17 at 9:00 am; students will be financially
      responsible for any classes remaining on their schedule as of 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20.
    • The add/drop period begins Wednesday, August 21 and ends Sunday, August 25. During this period, students may make schedule adjustments without receiving a “W” grade for each class dropped. However, students will not be able to drop the last class on their schedule. For information, contact [email protected].

  • What is my financial aid status? 
    You can check the status of your financial aid award in Workday. The current financial aid year is 2024-2025. 
  • When will my scholarships, grants, or loans show as pending aid? 
    Any grants or scholarships will appear on your account as soon as they are offered. Student loans will not show as pending aid until they are accepted. If you have additional questions or need more information, you may contact the Financial Aid Office at [email protected] or call 985-549-2244. 
  • How do I know if I need to submit financial aid documents?
    Check your Workday Inbox for any requests from the Office of Financial Aid. Documents should be uploaded directly to Workday per instructions in your Workday inbox.

  • How do I pay my tuition and fees? 
    • Online: all credit card and electronic payments must be made through Workday.
    • In Person: Checks, cash, cashier’s checks, or money orders are accepted at the Controller’s
      Cashier’s office, North Campus Building A, during office hours (Mon-Thurs, 7:30am-5 pm; Fri, 7:30am-12:30pm).
    • By Mail: Send to the Controller’s Office, Southeastern Louisiana University, SLU 10720,
      Hammond, LA  70402.  If mailing, please make sure to send in time to be received by the payment deadline.

  • When are fees due? 
    Class cancellation fee payment deadline: Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm. To ensure that your Southeastern courses are not canceled, all fees must be paid in full or your pending Financial Aid must be enough to cover your outstanding charges. 
  • Can I defer payment of my fees? 
    Southeastern offers a payment plan option (3 installments instead of one lump sum). 
  • How do I receive my financial aid refund? 
    All types of refund payments will be sent to BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc., and processed according to the refund method the student has selected. Click here for details on how to choose your refund method.

  • How will I receive my Southeastern ID if I am a NEW HOUSING student?
    If you attended any of the in-person Orientation sessions and had your ID photo taken, you will receive your ID during housing check-in. You will receive an email with a link to schedule your move-in date and time.  After you have submitted your time slot request, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your check-in. Residents must schedule their check-in time online in order to check into their residence hall. You must present a government-issued photo ID or LA Wallet to pick up your University ID.  No exceptions to this rule.  
  • If you did not attend an in-person Orientation session or attended but did not have your ID photo taken, you will need to have your ID photo taken and ID processed at the Campus Card Operations office located in North Campus Main Annex Building Room 133. 
    • New photos and IDs are currently available for pick up if tuition fees have been paid during hours of operation (Mon-Thurs, 7:30am-5 pm; Fri, 7:30am-12:30pm). 
    • Extended hours of operation will be located at the Pennington Student Activity Center on Saturday, August 17, 8am-4pm and Sunday, August 18, 12pm-5pm.
    • Extended hours of operation will also be Monday, August 12 through Thursday, August 15, 7:30am-6pm.
    • You will receive an email with a link to schedule your move-in date and time.  After you have submitted your time slot request, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your check-in.  Residents must schedule their check-in time online in order to check into their residence hall. 
    • If you are a housing student, you will need to obtain your ID PRIOR to check in. You must present a government-issued photo ID or LA Wallet to pick up your University ID.  No exceptions to this rule.  
  • How will I receive my Southeastern ID if I am a NEW Commuter student?
    If you attended any of the in-person Orientation sessions and had your ID photo taken, you will be able to pick up your ID from the Campus Card Operations office located in North Campus Main Annex Building Room 133 during hours of operation (Mon-Thurs, 7:30am-5 pm; Fri, 7:30am-12:30pm).
  • Extended hours of operation will be located at the Pennington Student Activity Center on Saturday, August 17, 8am-4pm and Sunday, August 18, 12pm-5pm.

  • How can I obtain a replacement ID if I am a RETURNING student?
    If you are a returning student (housing or commuter), you will be able to purchase a replacement ID for a cost of $20. Starting Monday, August 5, replacement IDs will be processed at Campus Card Operations, North Campus Main Annex Building Room 133 during hours of operation (Mon-Thurs, 7:30am-5 pm; Fri, 7:30am-12:30pm).
  • Extended hours of operation will be located at the Pennington Student Activity Center on Saturday, August 17, 8am-4pm and Sunday, August 18, 12pm-5pm.
  • Extended hours of operation will also be Monday, August 12 through Thursday, August, 15, 7:30am – 5pm, Friday, August 16, 7:30am-12:30pm and Monday, August 19 through Thursday, August 22, 7:30am – 6pm. Normal hours of operation resume Friday, August 23. If you are a housing student, you will need to obtain your ID PRIOR to check-in.  NOTE: A new photo must be taken for replacement IDs. You do not need a government issued photo ID for replacements.

Vehicle registration for the 2024-2025 academic year and fall semester opens August 12th for all students.  

  • All vehicles parking on campus will need to be registered through the online parking portalThis  process will generate a digital permit, eliminating the need for most physical parking tags.  Please follow the steps below to register your vehicle. **Please note: All ADA Permits and other specialized permits are sold in-office only.  
  • How do I obtain my Student Parking Permit? 
    1. Log into your Southeastern webmail.
    2. Go to Google apps in your webmail and click “Parking Portal.”
    3. Click “Get Permits.”
    4. Select “Purchase a Permit” then click “Next.”
    5. Select the permit you want to purchase and click “I Agree” on all the boxes about the rules and regulations, and then click “Next.”
    6. Click on “add new vehicle” and fill out all the required information then click “Next.” **Please note: A maximum of 2 vehicles are allowed per permit.
    7. View your cart to make sure the order is correct, select the payment method, enter your email address in the checkout box, and click “Pay Now.”
    8. On the payment information page, confirm the order is correct and click “Next.”
    9. Click the checkout button, enter credit card information and billing address, and click “Submit Payment.”  **Please note:  You will have the option to pay immediately or have the parking fee added to your fee bill in Workday.

**After registration is complete, be sure to view the parking maps for commuter and residential designated zones.

REQUIRED TO PICK UP TEXTBOOKS: SOUTHEASTERN ID & ALL FEES MUST BE PAID. 

  • When can I pick up my textbooks?
    Fall 2024 rental books will be available starting Monday, August 5 at Textbook Rental located on North Campus, Building F. Hours of operation from Monday, August 5 through Thursday, August 8 are 7am-5:30pm; closed on Friday, August 9. Regular hours of operation will be observed August 12th – August 15th (Mon-Th 7:30am – 5pm; Friday 7:30am-12:30pm)
    Extended hours of operation are as follows:  

    • Saturday, August 17 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday, August 18: 12 pm – 5 pm
      Monday, August 19 – Friday, August 23: 7am – 6pm
      Monday, August 26 – Thursday, August 29: 7am – 6pm.
  • Normal hours of operation will resume Friday, August 30th (Mon-Thurs, 7:30am-5 pm; Fri, 7:30am -12:30pm).
  • What do I need in order to pick up my textbooks? 
    When picking up textbooks, you will be required to show your Southeastern ID. For more information, contact Textbook Rental at (985) 549-3780 or view FAQs here.

  • Housing Check-in or “Move In Mane-ia” for all residents will be held Saturday, August 17 from 8am – 4pm and Sunday, August 18 from 12pm-5pm, at the Pennington Center (The REC, 1350 N. General Pershing Street).  After hours check-in will NOT be allowed.   
  • Residents must schedule a check-in time online in order to check into their residence
    hall.
    You will receive an email with a link to schedule your check-in time. After you have submitted your time slot request, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your check-in.
  • Residents must have their Southeastern ID to check in. 
    If you have not picked up your Southeastern ID prior to check-in, Campus Card representatives will be on-site at the Pennington Center on Saturday and Sunday. You must present a government issued photo ID or LA Wallet to pick up a new university ID from Campus Card Operations. No exceptions. 
  • Please be reminded that in order to check into your room, all university fees must be paid or covered by anticipated aid, and you must be registered as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours. No exceptions.

How do I sign-up for the emergency alert system? 
Your safety is our priority. Sign-up now for our free Emergency Alert System. Email notifications are automatically sent to all active student email accounts, but be in the know to receive emergency alerts via text messages and voice calls to your cell phone. Students can also identify preset relatives/friends to receive notifications.

  • Where can I buy Southeastern gear and school supplies?
    Visit the University Bookstore located in the Student Union for Southeastern apparel and gifts, and supplies, such
    as pens, notebooks, calculators and all other educational essentials – including computer software!
  • Extended hours will be available Saturday, August 17 10am-5pm and Sunday, August 18, 1pm-6pm, and Monday, August 19 -Thursday, August 22, 7am-5:30pm.
  • Financial Aid may be used to make in-store purchases at the Bookstore from Monday, August 12 – Thursday, August 23; online purchases may be made from Monday, August 12 – Tuesday, August 20.

Meal plans in the Mane Dish begin Saturday, August 17th with the 4pm dinner meal. Cub cash is available starting Monday, August 12th. Other forms of payment include Lion’s Lagniappe, Visa, and MasterCard. Gift cards are also accepted at Starbucks. Click here for more information about meal plans, menus, and FAQs.
